This tutorial is a beginner’s guide to developing enterprise applications using the Java Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP). The Java WSDP is an all-in-one download containing key technologies to simplify building of Web services using the Java 2 Platform.

This provides a great start to learning how to use Web Services. Don’t let yourself get weighed down in the details about how they’re implemented when you get started. That’ll drive you nuts. Start with learning how to make a simple service, and then how to call it.
From there you can dig into the guts to figure out how to do something bizarre like send a Word document via a web service… 😉
